The BM-21 "Grad" (БМ-21 "Град", lit. 'Hailstorm') is a self-propelled 122 mm multiple rocket launcher designed to support divisions with suppressive fire to counter anti-tank missile, artillery, and mortar positions, destroy strong points, and eliminate enemy nodes of resistance on the immediate battlefield.
The M-21OF rocket is used with the BM-21 Grad system and the launch vehicle is based on the Ural-4320 army truck. The standard rockets have a range of 80 km, while the new-generation rockets can reach a range of 120 km. The fully loaded weight of the system is 13,700 kg.
There are several variants of the BM-21 Grad, such as the BM-21 "Grad" (original 40-round launcher mounted on a Ural-375D truck), the BM-21-1 (upgraded system with the Ural-43201 5t truck chassis and KamAZ-740 diesel engine of 210 hp), and the 9K132 "Grad-P" (single-round man-portable launcher)
